About Us

Established since 2012

Welcome to LifeBook

LifeBook has been a very personal journey for me: my father,  Jules, was almost blind and when I took him out for lunch one day I found myself habitually shutting him down each time he started a story with responses like “Oh Dad, I have heard that one a hundred times.” I never actually listened or asked him “So, what happened next?” or “How did you feel about it?” I realised that I was in danger of soon forgetting the stories I had already listened to and that eventually I would struggle to convey details of Dad’s life and my own ancestry to future generations.

Keen to find a solution, I came up with the precursor to today’s LifeBook. I asked a friend, Kathy, to visit Dad for an hour each week at a set time and talk to him about his life; to listen to him and to capture his stories. Dad eagerly looked forward to his weekly interviews and would spend the intervening days thinking about the chapters of his life story and making notes in preparation for Kathy’s next visit.
He treated it as a project and the result was we were able to share many precious stories, some of which we had never heard before or had forgotten.

What also came out was how important it was to my father to have a legacy for his children, grandchildren and as yet unborn descendants and that, in order to preserve that legacy for future generations, those memories had to be written down. He wasn’t a famous man but he had a great story – our family story – and that autobiography was for the family and became one of our most prized possessions.

This was the humble beginning of LifeBook. Having turned to my entrepreneurial background to find a way to do this for hundreds of families around the world in an affordable manner, with much research I eventually developed LifeBook as it is today. LifeBook not only preserves the precious heritage of a family, it is a fun, engaging and rewarding experience. As my father said “I was remembering things I didn’t know I had forgotten!”

LifeBook is a marvellous gift for the whole family; strengthening connections through the sharing of stories and experiences. Whether you choose LifeBook as a celebration of a loved one’s life, an appreciative gift or an opportunity for personal recollection, the legacy of a LifeBook project is an unforgettable journey.
